Curse

Having a memory is a blessing; having a good memory is talent; have an exceptional memory is a gift; having a memory that is as accurate as a digital recording can be a curse.

Memories that play back infinitely in crystal clear definition, sometimes make me question my sanity. Because there is no softening of the edges; no time worn fuzzing of the details; no lying to myself that I didn’t really do this or say that; no self protecting, fictionalising of the facts kind of mitigation.

Time, dear reader, has taught me that the ability to forget details is necessity, even though it is often the thing that causes us to make the same mistake over and over and over again.
